【摘要】:Thismethodprovidesapass/failtestforappearanceofclear,transparentliquids.Manyliquidorganicproductshaveaproductspecificationrequiringthemtobeclearandbrightandfreeofvisibleparticulatematterandofliquidphasesotherthanthemainliquid.Producersoftheseliquidorganicproductsneedatestmethodtoconfirmthequalityoftheirproductsmeetsproductspecificationsforappearance.Appearanceisamanufacturingandsalesspecificationtestforethyleneglycolproductsandaloadingspecificationtestformethanolwallwashesofmarinevessels.Thistestmethodwasoriginallydesignedforapplicationtoglycolsandmethanolwallwashesofmarinevessels,butmaybeapplicabletootherclear,transparentliquids.Individualsusingthistestmethodforothercleartransparentliquidsshouldassurethemselvesthatthemethodissufficientforuse.Therearemanyfactorsthatcouldaffecttheappearanceduringandaftersamplingofaliquidproduct.Thesefactorsmayincludetransferringoftheliquidintoadifferentsamplecontainer,contaminationbythesamplecontainerorcontaminationbyambientatmosphere.Samplingandevaluationproceduresneedtobefollowedtoavoidundesirableeffectsandassuretheappearanceofthesampleistypicalfortheliquidasmanufactured.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesthevisualassessmentoftheappearanceofclear,transparentliquidsforclarityandthepresenceofundesirablecomponents(contamination)suchassuspendedmatter,freewater(oroil)andparticulateswhenexaminedbytransmittedlight.Measurementsrequiringinstrumentationarenotincludedinthismethod.Thistestmethodwasoriginallydesignedforapplicationtoglycolsandmethanolwallwashesofmarinevesselsbutmaybeapplicabletoothercleartransparentliquids.1.1.1Thismethodcanbeusedasafieldtestatstoragetemperaturesorasalaboratorytestatroomtemperatures.1.1.2Thismethodprovidesarapidpass/failtestforclarityandcontaminationofclear,transparentliquids.Itisaqualitativeassessmentonly.1.2ReviewthecurrentappropriateMaterialSafetyDataSheets(MSDS)fordetailedinformationconcerningtoxicity,firstaidprocedures,andsafetyprecautions.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardsstatementsaregiveninthesectiononHazards,Section8.
